Safety Reminders

September 17, 2026

We hope you are doing well. We're reaching out today to share an important reminder about morning arrival. Starting the day on time helps students feel calm, confident, and ready to learn. When students arrive late, they miss important instructional time and may feel rushed as they settle into the classroom.

Our school day begins at 8:00 AM. If students want breakfast, they must arrive between 7:40-7:50 at the 256th entrance. This allows the child to have their breakfast and be to class on time. For safety reasons, NYC Public Schools requires all doors to be locked and alarmed at the start of the school day. This means that both the front entrance and the 256th Street entrance will close promptly at 8:00 AM. Students arriving after that time will be marked late and must be buzzed in through the main entrance. We know mornings can be hectic, and we truly appreciate your efforts to help your child arrive on time.

On Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 PM, we will host a virtual safety meeting for all families. We’ll review the procedures we use to keep students safe throughout the school day. The meeting link will be shared the morning of the meeting, and we hope you’ll join us.

Over the next two weeks, we will conduct evacuation and lockdown drills. Teachers will prepare students in a gentle, age‑appropriate way before each drill. You are welcome to talk with your child about why these drills are important. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
